Historic ‘Open’ Gorsedh ceremony held in the pandemic and streamed live

Gorsedh Kernow was very pleased that although the Esedhvos and Bardic Ceremony planned for Bude-Stratton has been postponed until 2021, they were able to hold a small outdoor Bardic ceremony on 5th September 2020.

This ceremony did not involve some of the usual features, but did feature both include the roll call of those Bards who have left us this year and the welcoming of New Bards into the circle.

Adhering strictly to government COVID-19 Safe guidelines and severely limiting attending numbers to officiating Bards, most Bards were unable to attend this ceremony and they were nor able to welcome the public to come and watch this public even in the 92nd year of the Gorsedh in Cornwall.

With this in mind the ceremony was live streamed at 14:00 on 5th September on the Gorsedh Kernow website, through the Vimeo product, so that as many as possible were be able to join us online, including those in the Diaspora as well as family and friends of New Bards.

Hundreds were able to tune in live, and thousands have been viewing it afterwards.

Keslowena (congratulations) to all the new Bards.
