Gorsedh Kernow Conference – engaging the diaspora

The 2013 Conference is being held at Penryn Town Hall on Friday 6th September, 2013 on the day before the Open Gorsedh in Penryn.

The Conference will start at 10:00 and finish at 16:00.

The theme for the Conference, ‘Engaging the Diaspora’ is designed to look at the Cornish who live away from Cornwall, the diaspora, both in its historical connect as well as the modern diaspora. The conference is open to the public.

Some of the themes that we will be investigating include:

– The historic Cornish Diaspora.

– How can we ensure that links with Cornwall are kept alive?

– What are the cultural and historic ‘Roots That Bind Us’?

– How does the present generation see the Cornish Diaspora?

– The wives left behind

– Sport and music

We will be linking people from Australia and the USA into the conference via Skype who will say a few things about their experiences.

There are still some places if you haven’t booked and you can just turn up on the day and pay £3 for Bards and £5 for guests.
